Sterling silver with red garnet eyes, long posts and big backs for comfort. The silver has been waxed.
3mm cabs for the eyes. The earrings measure .8" x .46" x.14". They're fairly lightweight.
These are so funny. They're based on 3rd century Frankish brooches I've seen in the Met's medieval section. I think those jewelers had a sense of humor. So did the women who wore them.
I've also used these birds in the Riding the Wind Necklace.
Modeled on the computer in Zbrush, 3D printed, cast in sterling silver, then finished with a liver of sulfur patina.
