Based on a lithograph by Ernst Haeckel in his book, "Art Forms in Nature". They are also called horn coral, an extinct order of solitary and colonial corals.
I wanted to make a wide band ring with a repeating pattern that seemed abstract, but was based on something real.
Modeled on the computer in Zbrush, 3d printed in a castable resin, cast in silver, finished with a liver of sulfur patina.
