Sterling silver with 24k gold foil applied with the keum boo technique. The silver is blackened with a liver of sulfur patina.
The entire brooch measures 2.27” x 1.48” x .46”. It has a safety clasp.
One of a kind.
This is a photo scan I did of a stump that used to be in a park near me, but has been removed. Photo scanning and keum boo have this in common: they’re both intensive processes that you have to be crazy to want to do, but the results are usually worth it. It's an ode to the stump and to the tree that used to be there.
I put the photo scan together on the computer in ZBrush, then had the model printed and cast. I do all the finishing work.
