There’s no backing on this opal. It’s translucent. Its different colors are revealed in different kinds of light. Under one, it has the color of the Japan sea. Under another it seems like a storm with purple clouds in a yellowish brown sky. The story of the stone is sky and sea where one reflects the other.

A 3.9 carat Australian opal measuring 11mm x 11mm x 5.3mm with an Art Deco inspired silver band. Opals are fragile so you need to take care when you wear it.
Over all ring dimensions are 1" x .83" x 5".
The band was designed and modeled on the computer in Zbrush, printed in a castable resin, cast in sterling silver, and finished with a liver of sulfur patina.
