The star ruby is 3.5 carat, 7.8mm x 4.93mm, and the peridot, 2.5 carat, 7mm x 6.44mm x 7.9mm.

This was made for a show called Treasure in Translation. Everyone choose pieces from a collection of kitsch to use as inspiration for new pieces. I chose tiny axe and sword straight pins. The image of this brooch just popped into my head when I saw the pins. When a circle is cut through, there is a beginning and an end. There is no longer the feeling of being caught inn a web. The flaming sword brings decisiveness
Designed and modeled on the computer in Zbrush, printed in a castable resin, cast in sterling silver, and finished with a liver of sulfur patina.
